Why It’s Important to Check Your Roofer’s Insurance

Your roofing system is a critical part of your home, protecting you and your possessions from various elements like wind, rain and heat. That’s why it’s very important to make sure your roofing materials are strong and durable. It’s also a must to hire experienced roofers who can guarantee top-notch installation quality. However, apart from their experience and skills, you should also make sure your contractor has insurance.

In this article, Bone Dry Roofing – West discusses the importance of working with an insured roofing company.

General Liability Insurance

General liability insurance saves you from the hassle of paying for any mistakes your contractor makes while installing a new roof or repairing your current one. For example, if your roofer is working near your chimney and accidentally hits the edge of it with a hammer, this could cause a few of the bricks to break. Of course, the damage would have to be fixed, and if your roofer doesn’t have liability insurance, you’d have to take on the added expense of hiring a chimney contractor to replace the bricks on your chimney. But if your roofer is insured, you can rest assured that they’d be able to cover the bill for repairing your chimney.

Workers’ Compensation Insurance

Sometimes accidents happen at work. Especially with roofing jobs, workers often face the risk of falls. If your roofing company doesn’t have valid workers’ compensation insurance, you can be held responsible for an injured worker’s medical bills and emergency room visits. That said, make sure your roofer has valid workers’ compensation insurance so you can be protected by its coverage.
